I’m Erica Mullins, and I am an Associate Master Instructor of Nursing and Allied Health at Bossier Parish Community College. We've been using Thea as an integrated AI study companion for Allied Health courses over the last year and have seen students in Allied Health and the College as a whole embrace Thea across subjects. To date, I have had 160 students answer over 30,000 questions on the Thea platform.    Thea helps students learn in a tailored and specific way, not take shortcuts. My Allied Health students who used Thea to prepare for their exams in the 2025 Spring Semester averaged three percentage points higher than their peers who did not prepare with Thea.  Thea encourages ethical and transparent use of AI in education while making learning more engaging and tailored to each student. After sharing feedback with the Thea team to improve the learner experience, they acted quickly to implement our suggestions and further elevate the platform for our students.

I’m Dr. Rosalynn Thyssen, the Program Lead and Student Success Coordinator in the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Southern University and A&M College. I am also the Course Coordinator for the Nursing Pharmacology Course. I am sending this email in support of Thea to be read as public comment during the Louisiana BESE AGII Committee meeting on March 10th.   We have been using Thea as an integrated AI study companion for Nursing courses over the last six months and have seen students in the College of Nursing and the University as a whole embrace Thea across disciplines. To date, we have seen 3,000 of our 7,400 students choose to use Thea since we started in September.   We like Thea because it helps students learn and helps each student to focus time on their own growth opportunities. Thea brings ethics and honesty to using AI in education, and makes learning engaging and personalized for our students.   Prior to using Thea, our Introduction to Nursing students completed their first assessment and had a 30% pass rate on the exam. We then introduced Thea to the students ahead of the second exam, which normally has a similarly low pass rate. With the help of Thea, the students were better prepared for the second exam and ultimately doubled the pass rate to roughly 60%.    We have provided feedback to the Thea team to further enhance their learner experience such that it prepares the students for their certification exams, and the Thea team moved quickly to incorporate our feedback and provide a user experience that pushed our learners even more.

My name is Malaya, and I'm a junior. I've been using Thea for three years now and it's honestly been one of the best things for my schoolwork. When I first started, I wasn't really giving it a chance. Ninth grade felt easy enough, so I didn't think I needed it. But sophomore year my classes got real and I started taking it more seriously. Now I'm on it all the time. I do virtual school and people think that means it's easier but it's really not. The hardest part is asking for help. Like my teachers are there but there's something about being at home alone on a computer that makes you feel like you should just figure it out yourself. So you don't reach out and then you just stay stuck. Thea is honestly where I go when I don't want to feel embarrassed about not knowing something. I can take my time, go over it as many times as I need to, and actually learn it. Nobody is rushing me or looking at me. I'm doing better in school but more than that I actually care about understanding what I'm learning now. That's the part that surprised me the most. Thea helps me get there.

I'm a senior and I only started using Thea this year, but it's already changed how I study. AP U.S. History and AP English are no joke. My teacher puts everything in Google Classroom, so I just copy it straight into Thea, and my study kit is ready to go. When I have a physical study guide, I take a picture and it does the same thing. It's fast and I'm working with exactly what I need, nothing extra. The games got me through. I didn't expect to actually enjoy studying, but I'll be on there way longer than I planned trying to beat my own score. And Smart Study is smart for real. It finds the stuff I keep getting wrong and keeps drilling me on it until I get it right. My little brother is in fifth grade and he started using it for his history tests. He doesn’t even need me to help him study anymore. He just gets on Thea. So it really does work for any age. More students need access to this. It makes school feel a lot more manageable.
